Manchester Lib Dem Leader Simon Ashley today called for the Council to look a holding an annual Manchester Festival as figures revealed that over 231,000 attended the festival, 89% of tickets were sold, and the Manchester economy benefitted to the tune of £35.7m.

Cllr Ashley said,

“When we initially agreed to a biannual festival we were faced by the Liverpool capital of culture and an uncertainty as to whether it would be a success. Now, we need to look again to see whether an annual festival will take us to the next level.”

Councillor John Bridges added,

“If we can make the figures add up, the Lib Dems would support an annual Festival.
